The POSITIVES of going out of the Europa League
|
We will win more Premier League games
The Europa League is an ill-conceived abortion of a competition where you need to play about 20 games before you have a game worth playing.
We can go all out to win the FA Cup and especially the League Cup which are more realistic targets
We now know that no player (ie Batshuyai , Bacca etc) joins a club to play Europa League
We wont be told that players are being rested from League matches because they were in the Ukraine last Thursday
Its a wake up call for the owners that if you try and do your buying on the cheap you wont progress
We will play more on Saturdays ... I HATE Sunday games

I think the positive is less games and playing Saturdays.
I dont think our squad is strong enough to compete in this competition yet.
That was proved last night.
Also what i didnt want is what Spurs did last season, take it seriously right until the latter stages then all of a sudden play a weaker side as they were in contention for the title/top 4.
That was just fucking stupid in my book.
Obviously i am disappointed we have lost as i am with any game but longer term it may be for the best (this season).

Don't need to really. We spent 9 months trying to qualify for it. To then go out before it starts is terrible news on every level. Not to mention that the squad harmony that underpinned our success last season is now at risk given that we've built a squad large enough to be playing twice a week. There's going to be a lot of unused players who won't be happy for long, and in the case of some of our young talent, we run the risk of them getting the hump when potential SUITORS are lurking.
There's quite simply nothing good about it

To me we spent 9 months trying to finish as high as possible with the dream of Champions league qualification. We fell short but can do that again this season And win the FA Cup & League Cup

We got our first competitive loss out of the way at the new place without it being another London club who'd crow about it forever.
The only people who could have a pop about it won't because they'll be too busy washing and valeting your car.
I'm clutching at straws really, ain't I?

Sven's positives are all true.
Stewie's negatives are al true.
I'm so gutted, I'm feeling stewie more right now, though I hope to fell sven more later.....something to look forward to sven.
It all depends on what happens from now on.
Before last night, we owed the players for their efforts last season, which is one of the other reasons for the full stadiums other than just the novelty factor.
Now, the players owe us again, BIIIIG TIME!
We went a bit further than last year, so what I need to help get over this is for us to do a bit better in the league than last season.
Can't say I'm brimming over with confidance that will happen.
A win on Sunday will help alot, but that seems a lot less likely than last year's Emirates win.
Biggest positive is that it helps us feel at home in the new stadium in some respects. Same old West Ham, alright.

Griff sums it up well. We were prepared and ready for Europe this season and were very much expecting to be there, it was very much the next step for us a club nd to coincide with the new stadiumetc. So it's a bit of a shock that literally overnight we now just have the bread and butter league again. Very much back to the drawing board and the outlook suddenly looks a bit bleak, fuck only knows what Sullivan must be thinking. Absolutely massive blow and a shocking state of affairs not to be in that draw later.

The story concerns a fox that tries to eat grapes from a vine but cannot reach them. Rather than admit defeat, he states they are undesirable. The expression "sour grapes" originated from this fable.

If we want to compete in Europe then we need to deserve to be there by getting an automatic spot in the league or winning a cup. Despite a good season last year we weren't good enough to qualify even with the Payets, Lanzinis etc.
Agree with all of Svens points. Playing muggy teams in Europe that just want to kick your players and injure them isn't really that exciting to watch anyway. It's not a competition which inspires me or the players it seems.
I can wait to see how the club tries to spin this magnificent success though.

Shows how thin the squad is in terms of quality - when injuries hit. This season will be a struggle if we dont get the players back fit and staying fit.
